Abstract

Pregnancy is a beautiful process, unique, and makes someone happy. This pregnancy process has high esthetic value, which is important to be maintained. This is caused that pregnancy has a meant in taking care a baby to be a noble man. Broad Outlines of the Nation's Direction (GBHN 1988) said that health building is a priority to the human's resources quality. The improvement of human being's quality cannot be involved without the improvement of mother and child prosperity. These research purpose, in term of 1) To identify the consumption of seafood by pregnant. 2) To identify the background of consumerism factors of pregnant toward seafood. This research is quantitative descriptive design. Sampling method is done by accidental sampling to the 30 respondent at the Islamic Hospital of Malang. Data analysis is done by percentage but factor analysis uses SPSS for Windows.The result of research is as follows; 1) 87% respondents consume seafood at the end of their pregnancy. In addition, 13% respondents stop to consume seafood at the ninth month of their pregnancy. 2) There are 12 factors of this research result to the consumption background of seafood. The percentage of variance is 81,7 % that is divided into; individual factor (13,3%), comfortable factor (9,6%), promotion factor (9,5%), health factor (7,8%), department store price factor (7,2%), taste factor (6,4%), market price factor (5,5%), packing factor (5,2%), child factor (5%), visitor and service factor (4,6%), neighbor information factor (4%) and prestige factor (3,6%).This research conclude that; 1) most of the pregnant do understood about the importance and the function of seafood in supporting the health (87%); 2) the background factors consuming seafood are product factor (11,6%), promotion factor (9,5%), price factor (12,7%), individual factor (13,3 %), social factor (9%), and psychological factor (11,4%).
