Abstract

Images needing for multimedia information and photographic specially image statis in this section more and more increased. Image digital require by considerable strorage capacity and transmission bandwidth. Over that, consequences for efficient data transmition and strorage very expensive. To handle of the problem, need be technology image compression for decrease capacity of images. One of the technique for compression the images can be compress with high ratio is fractal image compression with Partitioned Iterated Function System (PIFS) method. This method, compression image in the process is resemble natural image (local self-similarity). Finding similarity between an image in the whole and its parts is unrealistic, then seek self similarity between larger parts and smaller parts. This method can getting high ratio, but the quality of the image very low. Keyword: Image, Image compression, fractal, PIFS
