The title of this research is ANALISIS MAKNA IMPLISIT PADA PENERJEMAHAN NOVEL HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN KARYA JK ROWLING (THE ANALYSIS OF TRANSLATING IMPLICIT MEANING IN NOVEL ENTITLED HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN BY J.K ROWLING). The objects of this research are implicit meaning found in the novel. Words, phrases, clauses, and sentences that contain implicit meanings were taken as the data and analyzed by using descriptive method. The novel entitled HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN was written by JK Rowling and translated by Listiana Srisanti into Indonesian language by the title HARRY POTTER DAN TAWANAN AZKABAN. The aim of this research is to know the translation of sentences with implicit meanings from the source language into the target language. The result of this study shows that: 1. Implicit meaning must be translated explicitly to the target language if the meaning of the source language could make message that is given could not be received clearly in the source language. 2. Implicit meaning in source language can be translated implicitly without grammatical form to target language. 3. Implicit meaning can be translated as a clitica of target language. 4. Implicit meaning in source language can be translated as a clause of target language. 5. Adaptation is needed to translate implicit meaning because information or meaning that is given by the source language can be received naturally or acceptable in target language.
