Abstract

Medicine actually is a system which covers a body of knowledge, accumulation of' technology guided by norms and values set up in a specific paradigm which involves men, either as teacher, researcher, administrator, health provider or health seeker, individual or community at large. A system of medicine will be regarded as Islamic, if all factors and processes involved and the outcome produced of the system meet the criteria of Islam. The status, tasks and the goals of men involved should be Islamic. The guidance and the paradigm of the system should be Islamic. The knowledge and technology used should be Islamic. The norms and values and its code of' medical ethics should be Islamic. The interaction of factors engaged in the system should be Islamic. And the most important is the outcome expected should also be Islamic. Medical activities and health services are actually forms of worship by which brought mere into closet- contact to Allah. In Islamic Medicine the will be no place of opinion that said science for the sake of' science or science for the sake of utility.
