Emotional intelligence as a ability of knowing one’s emotion, managing emotion, motivating one’s self, recognizing emotional in others and handling relationship. Emotional intelligence is influenced by the learning process by individu with family and social environment. This study is a eksplanative research. The purpose of this writing to see is there any different of emotional intelligence between male and female. Beside that, this research is to see is there any different between male and female in knowing one’s emotion, managing emotion, motivating one’s self, recognizing emotional in others and handling relationship. The research placed at SMUN I Giri Banyuwangi with take 100 students, 50 male and 50 female, as the objects. Sampling technique used equal probability technique. This research used emotional intelligence scale as a measurement.The result of data analysed with used t-test shows that: (1) Female have a higher emotional intelligence than male, (2) Female get a higher ability in knowing one’s emotion, recognizing emotional in others and handling relationship, and (3) There is no different between male and female in managing emotion and motivating one’s self.
