Abstract

Nitric oxide (nitrogen monoxide = NO) is a colourless and water soluble gas that able to react with oxygen to form nitrogen dioxide. NO is a biogenic messenger with potent action on the vasodilator tone that essential for the regulation of blood pressure, inhibition of platelet aggregation and reduction of endothelium adhesion. It is synthetized by NO- synthase which oxidatively guanidine group of L- Arginine to form L- citrulline and NO.This article will discuss the role of nitric oxide in chemistry with its biological implication.
