Burnt mosquito repellent was broadly known to be used by most of Indonesian house holds to get rid of its bite. Up to date a lot of research works on the effect of smoke of burnt mosquito repellent have been carried out. But its effect to man exposed to the smoke are rarely reported. This study is a post-test only control group design. Samples consisted of 10 albino rat and divided into 2 groups of 5, where one is experimental group and the other was treated as control group. The experimental group was exposed to smoke of burn mosquito repellent in a plastic cage of 100 x 100 x 75 can size. Exposure was conducted in 30 days in an 8 hours episode. After 30 days of exposure, all animals were sloughtered by decapitation and both apex of the lung were taken. Histological preparation was made by cross sectional slice of 5 mm thick and later colored by hematoxylon eosin. Microscopical examination focused on alveoli tissue with 10 x 10 and 20 x 10 magnification. PMN leucocyte infiltration, interstitial edema, cell proliferation and haemorrhage were detected. Data collected were analyzed using Fisher's Exact test. The result shows that interstitial edema and haemorrhage were clearly detected in experimental group (p > 0. 01). PAIN leucocyt infiltration was found. It can be concluded that a significant changes have taken place in the experimental rat.
