Abstract

Ultrasonic wave was unanimously agreed that it has biological warm and cavity formation effect that leads to DNA fragmentation and the information of free radicals. All these will disrupt the chromosome and spermatogenesis processes. Vitamin C as an anti-oxidant is believed to be able to neutralize and prevent the chain reaction of the free radicals. The objective of this study is to know the effect of vitamin C to the number of spermatid of musculus exposed by ultrasonic wave. A simple experimental design or post-test only control group design was used where we took 6 unmated male adult mus musculus, 3 months old, BW 20-30 gram with 6 different treatments. Po without ultrasonic wave exposure and vitamin C intake. PI was exposed to ultrasonic wave but without vitamin C intake. P2 was exposed to ultrasonic wave and fed with vitamin C 0.10 mg/BW/day. P3 was exposed to ultrasonic wave and fed with vitamin C 0.15 mg/BW/ day. P4 was exposed to ultrasonic wave and fed with vitamin C 0.20 mg/ BW/day P5 was exposed to ultrasonic wave and fed with vitamin C 0.40 mg/BW/day. Ultrasonic wave exposed to the experimental animals was similar to each of them i.e. 60 kHz, 3.5 Watt/cm2 in 15 minutes duration. Each exposure was repeated 5 times. The counting of spermatid was carried out on day 15 after treatment. The result shows that ultrasonic wave exposed to the mus musculus decreased the number of its sper Vitamin C up to 0.20 mg/BW/day fed to the exposed animal will increase the number of its spermatid. But if the dose is increased up to 0.40 mg/BW/day will decrease the number of its spermatid. The optimal dose of vitamin C that able to prevent the impairment of spermatogenesis processes was 0.18 mg/BW/day.
