The study of the difference of biomechanical description between sprinters and long distance runners having good achievements has been done. The objective of the study is to identify and to learn the biomechanical measurement of the sprinters and the long distance runners body. The results of this study are expected-to be able to obtain the data of the anatomical measurement, muscle joint strength and flexibility of columna vertebralis between sprinters and long distance runners which will be used for evaluative study as a basic index to select both of the sports group. The subjects of the study were taken from PASI JAYA, consisting of 33 sprinters and 31 long distance runners who had good achievements. The age of the subject taken was from 17 to 27 years. The study included anthropometry measurement, flexibility of columna vertebralis, muscle joints strength and lung vital capacity. The results indicated that the average height, body weigth, upper arm girth, water body amount, lean body weigth, fat body weight, forearm length, foot length, sitting suprasternal height, expiration and inspiration chest girth, girth of chest distention, lung vital capacity of the sprinters were bigger than those of the long distance runners. The average of the sprinter's index of fatness and ponderal index as well as smaller than those of the long distance runners. All of the average measurement of muscle joints strength between sprinters and long distance runners were not significantly different. The whole. numbers of flexibility of columna vertebralis measurement, except the columns vertebralis rotation, between the two sports group were not significantly different, too. The study states that measurements which could be changed by the training effects were significantly different, otherwise the measurements which could not be changed by training effets except body height, sitting suprasternal height and foot length not significantly different between sprinters and long distance runners. So that a good achievement of both of the sports group because of training effects.
