Full text not available from this repository.Abstract
The forestry sector is often cited as successful in contri-buting income generation, employment creation, foreign exchange earnings and revenues to the government. However, this analytical booklet shows that most of the frequently quoted contribution of the forest sector to the country’s economy, turns out to be illusory, except for its foreign exchange contribution.Timber production involves a lot of externalities through some economic linkage effects, the negative externalities of timber production seem to outweigh the former. This booklet shows that extraction of timber from Indonesia’s natural forest has created negative economic, environmental and social externalities
