Abstract

This paper delineates the effect of spirituality on leadership efectiveness. Spirituality is viewed from the leadership style and work practices; while leadership effectiveness is portrayed using indicators, namely leaders’ attitude on workers, employees’ response and perfomance of the organization. The goals of this study are to measure the effect of the spirituality as the exogen variable on the leadership effectiveness as the endogen variable. Samples of this research are taken from the leaders of 30 companies in three big cities, Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya. Procedure of the research is partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS SEM) using a refelctive model. Results of the study show that spirituality affects significanty on the leadership effectiveness as seen in the value of R square as much as 0.79. Furthermore, spirituality affects on leadership style as shown in the p-value as much as 0.04 and the weight as much as 0.70 and work practices signifciantly as shown in the p-value as much as 0.03 and the weight as much as 0.72. While leadership effectiveness affects on leaders’ attitude on workers, employees’ response and perfomance of the organization as reflected in the pvalue as much as 0.02, 0.01 and 0,00 as well as the weight as much as 0.78, 0.79 and 0.81. In conclusion spirituality shows positive and significant effect on leadership effectiveness. Key words: spirituality, leadership effectiveness, employee, performance
