Abstract

This thesis mainly discusses about synonyms, especially contextual synonyms. The analyzed contextual synonyms in this thesis are common used terms in business field. It is entitled �¢����The Analysis of Synonymous Business Terms in Fortune Magazine (A Study of Semantics).�¢���� The purposes of this research are to find out kinds of semantic relationships the contextual synonyms have and semantic properties they share. The method applied in this research is analytic descriptive. The study is conducted by describing and analyzing the data and its semantic properties. It is found out in this research, that, in the article in the magazine, the contextually synonymous business terms indeed have three main relationships; those are: embedment, intersection, and non-coherence. Also, semantic properties they share indicate what kind of semantic relationships they have.
