Up to date, surveillance of HIT,'/AIDS conducted in Indonesia was mostlv passive in its nature and reluctanly triggered if needed. But data and information collected show that the HIV/AIDS has been spreaded in a large area concurrently with prevalence elevation of Sexual Related Disease. To predict the extent of Sexual Related Disease and HIV/AIDS infection in Indonesia at present and projected tendency in the future, an active and manageable surveilance program should be carried out. Sentinel surveilance is recommended by WHO as a principal mean to detect HIV infection and its geographical and demographical spread from time to time and its tendency in the future. HIV sentinel surveilance is a repeating cross-secional design activity by collecting, processing and analysing data to know the prevalence of HIT' antibody of selected population in a particular period. This approach is regarded as the best and efective way, since it focuses on selected risky group, low cost and relatively flexible number of man power and apparatus
