Abstract

The continuous rising demand of electrical power enhanced the establishment of Extra High Voltage Air Corridor (EHVAC) passing over the people's dwelling and this in turn creates worries among the community of its possible hazardous effect to their health. Various research works either epidemiological or experiment on guinea pigs show that the electrical and magnetic fields of the EHVAC have controversial conclusion of its illicit effect to family members living under it.This article is a library study on the effect of electrical and magnetic fields to family members exposed to those fields and suggestions of further research needed on the issue mentioned. The risk of health impairment to those exposed to electro-magnetic field is a/o blood system, reproduction system, nervous system, cardiovascular system, endocrine glands, psychological, social and cultural etc. Efforts to control the ill effects mainly focused on decreasing the power of electromagnetic fields in and outside houses, protection toward electrostatic current, voltage induction, electrical jump to buildings and the possibility of the short cut of transmission cable.Family physician could play a substantial role in minimizing the ill effects of the EHVAC electrical and magnetic fields to health. This could be in form of providing health service by family physician approach, a comprehensive continuous health service that focus to promotive and preventive efforts where family is the target of the service. In coming years a more specific research is suggested a/o monitoring the ill effect of EHVAC to various diseases or health impairment of family members living under EHVAC and its management.
