Abstract

Speaking ability begins at someone��s childhood, when we wanted to say something to our family and during the interaction period with the society and at school. Speaking ability (kaiwa) is one of four language abilities besides grammar, reading, and listening. Japan Foundation Standard (JFS) Can-do is one of the study guide which is currently under development by Japan Foundation. JFS main focus is the study objective that wants to be achieved by students when learning a lesson, in JFS, there lesson material, achievement, rubric, and self evaluation. This research was based on JFS Japanese conversation lesson, which was done in the fourth semester from February until June 2018. There were two classes that were experiencing JFS, class 01 with 9 students and class 02 with 12 students. At the end of each chapter learned, there was a self evaluation and this is the focus of this research. The book used was minna no Nihongo II. In Conclusion, based on the trial and lesson of JFS can do at the self evaluation part. Students themselves can evaluate whether they are able to achieve the study of each chapter or not, and their speaking ability has been improved.
