Efforts to find out male contraceptive agent extracted from plant have been conducted by a lot of researchers, but the results are still.far than satisfactory. One of the prospective plant is Garcinia mangostana. Infusa of the young mango is assumed to be able to decrease the sperm quality i.e. motihtv> viability and integrity of sperm membrane. The purpose of this studv is to know how far the spermaticide effect of Garcinia mangostana, L compared to jelly condom broadly sold in the market. Sperm was taken from 30 adult male of Normozoo spermia. Sample was devided into 6 groups: 2 groups are used as control (K7P, control without treatment and KDP, control treated with jellv condom) and 4 groups as experiment (PI infusa of young mango.fruit with 1.5% concentration; PH, 3.0% concentration; PHI, 4.5% concentration and PIb; 6.0% concentration). The results show that spermaticide effect of infusa of young mango fruit of 1,5% and 3,0% concentration are lower than jelly condom. The 4.5% concentration produced the same effect but the 6.0'% concentration was stronger than jelly condom.
